DAN 5K RACES
Race 1 St.Stithians GP Standings
After the first successful year of its 5k Series in 2011, the Duchy Athletics Network (DAN) is looking forward to staging its first race of the 2012 Series at the Stithians Show Ground on Tuesday 15th May. Three races have to be completed in the Series to qualify for a race memento, and a special final Presentation race has been added to the end of this year’s series to present the qualifying runners with a Series memento and prizes to the over-all 1st, 2nd and 3rd male female finishers and numerous 1st, 2nd and 3rd vet category prizes.
Personal Best, the running shoe, clothing and equipment store based at Carlyon Bay is again sponsoring this year’s series, and with one of its main suppliers Asics will be handing out spot prizes at the races.
St Austell Running Club is also holding a Fun Run prior to its race on 5th July, plus it’ll be presenting prizes to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female finishers at its race.
Some runners have queried why the DAN doesn’t use just one course to hold the series, which is the typical format for a 5k Series, but the general feedback from runners last year was they really enjoyed the chance to run on some very attractive courses, and again this year, due to the geographical spread of the Series, it will offer opportunities during the summers for new and established runners alike to compete in 3 miles races, on beaches, across grassy fields, along cliff paths and on trails on river banks across our county.

Please note this race does not count as a qualifying race.
Start time for each race is 7.00pm, with registration starting from 6.00pm.
