Thank You !
Eden 2011
"I had to write and say that this half marathon was one of the best I have done this year, not for time I might add (!) but just for the support, organisation, great multi terrain route, and of course the pasty at the end. The marshalls without exception were superb, full of praise for the runners and Paul Bullock's little speech at the start to make us all feel re-assured that time wasn't the most important thing, all made for a really great experience.I spoke to quite a few runners afterwards and everyone seemed to say the same thing .... so hats of to Eden and St Austell running club, a truly great partnership, and who continue to impress the rest of us ... " Kate Hoffen x |
Just a quick note to thank St Austell Runing Club members for the brilliant organisation and marshalling @ Eden on Sunday.
As a runner, I found the course well directed, with marshalls being very helpful and upbeat ....... needed on the tough terrain!
As an unattached runner, it was my first 1/2 Marathon in 6 years. I really enjoyed the day and will definately return for the 2012 race and try to retain my title of first in 45-49 age group!
Please pass on my thanks to your members.
Regards,
Robert Bourne, Liskeard |
| I just wanted to say well done to St Austell RC and the Eden Project for organising a fantastic event last weekend. I ran the half marathon along with my mum and sister, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was very friendly, it was very well marshalled and the support from both marshalls and those at the drinks/jelly baby/sponge stations was brilliant. The pasta party the night before was an added bonus. Thank you, we will be recommending the half marathon (and maybe even the full) to our club. Kind regards, Claire Fisher Dudley Kingswinford RC |
Boconnoc 2011
Dear Paul, It was very good to meet you last Sunday at Boconnoc and thank you so very much for organising the St John Ambulance Run again. I thought it was a great success and although I have not had the final figure yet, we must have made £1200 or so. I know the organisation was very much a team affair, so please pass on my thanks to all those in your club who helped make the morning run so smoothly. I hope that you would be willing to do it again next year. Thanks you all once again. Yours Sincerely, Charles Edward – Collins |
St.Austell Half 2011
Hi Andy and Paul, Just a quick email to say thank you for yesterday's race. Really enjoyed it. Well done to all those involved. The Rugby Club was a great venue and it was an interesting course. There was a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and a brilliant goodie bag! Thank you for the prize money. My kids came to watch and quickly took that off my hands!! best wishes (Suzy Bosustow, Lady Winner of the St Austell Half Marathon) |
Hi Paul, just a quick note to say thank you to all the marshalls and members of St Austell Running Club for 2 great races today. Six members of our club, Plymouth Musketeers, came along to run these races, and they were both brilliantly well organised and supported. A lovely route with splendid views coupled with fantastic trails! A real credit to your club. Thank You so much, see you next year!!!! Very Best Regards |

Over the weekend we took 9 members of our triathlon club down from Bournemouth to take part in your 2 races @ Eden. We all had a wonderful weekend, and wanted to pass on our thanks. Souvenir – Absolutely, the T-shirt & medal are both good quality & well put together The Cornish Pastie & beer where hovered up in seconds ! Organisation – all around the Eden Project HQ your helpers were always in good numbers with a huge smile on their faces, well drilled and all more than happy to aid us at any time. Location – can you get a better location. Course/route – all off of main roads, scenic & challenging. Marshals & spectators – these can make or break any event, all the others from our club commented about the marshals, Whilst on a personal note, I was exchanging “happy banter” with many, as this was my recovery run from last weekends Jersey Marathon. Water stops – loads of them, & great to have so many children & young police cadets out there helping. I & We sincerely hope that you receive hundreds of other positive emails from all other runners. 1 observation, the quality of the paper used for the race numbers was not great, once wet through sweat it did rip easy. Value for money ? – absolutely. Would we recommend to others ? of course. So next year, we hope to encourage more members from our club to enter.
P.S. we all stayed behind to cheer local man Dan over the line who was carrying the large Green box I hope he raised tonnes of cash !!! All the very best , thank you again to your entire team and ALL the marshals.. Soon we will have the race day results along with a fine write up on our club website for all to see. Kind regards Stuart Glenister Mens Captain, Zoom Triathlon Club, Bournemouth |

I just wanted to send a hooge thank you to all involved in the organisation of the marathon, especially the marshalls along the course and those in the more remote spots. The gentleman with the mars bars was ace and the lady with the hose pipe. The medals (including last year's) are the prettiest in my collection.
I'm almost tempted to do it again next year, but take a camera with me for the amazing scenery and run much more slowly.
As much as I'd like it to grow some more, I hope it doesn't get so big that it loses it's 'small and cosy' appeal.
Job well done, in my opinion.

I just want to pass on my huge thanks and appreciation for the efforts of everyone involved in the organisation of the above. Despite having spent a lifetime including my whole career involved with sport at all levels and across all activities, I have only been running/jogging for just over twelve months and yesterday was my first go at a marathon. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, pain yes but have had plenty of that over the years. But what I have not experienced before is such support from the Marshalls, they were absolutely wonderful, they showed a genuine interest, warmth and patience. For this reason and this reason alone I might even do this again. Thanks once again, Kind regards, Russell B Lawrance |
This is just a short note of thanks to everyone at the Eden Project, St Austell Running Club and all the Marshalls, clubs and volunteers who helped with this year's Eden Project Marathon. It was my first marathon (I have done several half-marathons before) and the day was just made amazing by the enthusiasm, generosity and helpfulness of everyone involved. We were cheered and applauded up every hill and at regular intervals along the route and it gave everyone that I spoke to a real lift. The water stops were frequent and really well manned and often had extras such as chocolate and jelly beans laid on. The organisation was also really good and it must have taken a lot of people a lots of time and effort to set up. Thanks once again to you all - you're all stars! Best regards, Stuart Colwill. |

I just wanted to write and thank everyone who was involved in the Marathon yesterday (and please pass on to the Eden team). The route was beautiful, which distracted us somewhat from the inclines, and at the top of every hill (and usually at half-way too) was a marshall encouraging us along. The day was perfectly organised, and the finish at Eden was the most perfect ‘arena’ – great atmosphere, facilities and of course the landscape. We were amazed at how many people had given up their time for the runs – thank you so much, it does not go unappreciated! Dr Hannah Jones |
Well done to you and your club for doing a great job on this year's Eden Project marathon, half marathon and fun run. Abb's and me really enjoyed being part of your marshalling team and it was great to hear Duncan Oakes was first home in the marathon. Cheers, Rob Cockings |
What a great event - well done to all. Even the weather is now in hand! I was really impressed with the organisation at every level this year. After last year I feared that your ambitious targets for field size would be unattainable, but now, with the superb arrangements and impressive marshaling, the event can reasonably aim high. The course remains a highlight of the day out - to run so far off road is very special. Again, well done to all. Regards Nic Pettit (117) |
I just wanted to say thank you for a fantastic day at Eden yesterday. The half marathon was by far and away one of the best I have ever run. The course was beautiful (if challenging!), the atmosphere was great and the organisation was brilliant. I will definitely be back next year. Best, Laura Lannon |
Just to say a big thanks to you and the St Austell Running Club. I thoroughly enjoyed (most!) of yesterday's marathon and your help was appreciated. My children ended up feeding me chocolate orange en route....which I don't think anyone has recommended before at all and I hadn't tried in advance...the day didn't go quite as I'd planned!! I was grateful for the electrolyte drinks provided too. Thank you From Helen |
Just a quick note to thank everybody involved with organizing the Eden Marathon. The support and encouragement from everybody manning the drinks stations and directing us was really appreciated. Thanks very much. Stephen Vallely and Fi Spencer-Smith |
Boconnoc 2010
Dear Paul, Thank you very much for organising the fun run and race at Boconnoc on Sunday. All your preparations and hard work on the day and previous days, ensured the smooth running of the event and made it such a success. There was a very happy atmosphere with everybody enjoying themselves. Even the weather this year was kind to us. The event made a profit of nearly £1000 for St John Ambulance, including refreshments and donations, so it was worth all the efforts. Would you please pass on my warmest congratulations and thanks to your team on a most successful day. Again thank you very much for all that St Austell Running Club has done for supporting St John Ambulance. With Best Wishes, Kirsten Gilbert |
Thank you for today's well organised event at Bocconoc. The support and information from marshals was second to none. The course was interesting and fun. Well done all!

Thank you St Austell Running Club For volunteering at the Eden Project Race for Life We couldn’t have done it without you, thanks for being part of the team! Scott Renken
On behalf of all at Cancer Research UK, I just wanted to formally say a huge thank you for all of your help at this year’s Eden Project Race for Life. Without volunteers like you who give up so much of their free time, these events simply would not be the success they are. It was a fabulous day and I was really pleased with how the event went, and more importantly we should raise a significant amount for Cancer Research UK – we are hoping to raise in the region of £95,000 from the Eden Project Race for Life alone, which will be a great contribution towards our national target of £60million. I hope you enjoyed volunteering at the event, and I sincerely hope that you will join us again next year.

Thank you all for last night, what fantastic weather given the state of it today! We really enjoyed ourselves and all your runners were very friendly and patient since we were all a tad late.....
Will let you know when we can arrange a rematch on the moors (old shoes only!!!).
Have a good day
Sarah:)

Wanted to say a massive congratulations to you all for such a great and successful Eden Run. It was great to run it and an honour to win the first one. I certainly think it can only get bigger and bigger every year. Nice Work. Also thank you loads for letting me in at the last minute as I almost feel guilty for winning it. LOL! It was a great day and the pasty at the end just topped it off!! ‘Thommo’ Chris Thompson |
Just a note to say thank you for the wine and for providing us with a splendid day out. We all thought the Eden Run was a great success, and we hope to come back next year. ‘Cheers Then’ Jemma Jemma Simpson |

| Hi Paul, I've been meaning to get to this for a while but you know how it is..... Myself and Karen would just like to pass on our congratulations on a great marathon. The course, marshalling and drink stations were terrific. The facilities around the finish were second to none, changing and cafe/bar areas not to mention pasties and beer! One or two people at work have mentioned to me that they were a little surprised at having to pay (all be it half price) to get into Eden to see the finish and that once there there wasn't much opportunity to cheer on the runners, I must say that as a runner it was a bit lacking in atmosphere approaching the finish. Please don't take that as too negative though Paul, it really was a great day. A race like that takes a bloody lot of work and the product was worth it, I hope you feel you are able to be involved in the organisation in the future, they couldn't do it without you. We'll be back to do it again. Perhaps we'll see you at the Cornish if our legs are up to it.... Best wishes. Ian and Karen |
I have just got back from a week of Cornish sunshine after doing the 1st Eden Half last sunday I must say it was a brilliantly run event. Thank you very much for a challenging scenic well supported event with loads of water stops, encouraging marshalls and some fab cornish support at every corner! I will definitely be back with hopefully some running friends, this has put the event on the map to be sure! Well done and thank you Andrea (bristol) |
Hi there,
Can you please pass on my thanks to your club for doing such a superb job of the Eden marathon.
Really well organised, a great bunch of marshals and drink teams out on the course and plenty of pre and post race assistance from your club members.
You must be chuffed that all the hard work and sleepless nights have been worth it. |
Hi
Just a short email to say thankyou for a lovely day yesterday 11th ,would like to thank the people who stood out in the wind and rain cheering all of us on . Also to the people who organised the event .This was my first marathon and apart from aching a bit this morning i enjoyed the day so thankyou once again.
Kind Regards Carol Youe To St Austell running club,
The marshals were amazing, standing out there for 5 hours plus and still giving encouragement, it was truly appreciated (my face may have suggested otherwise!) I don't know the ladies name, (wears glasses & has a daughter at Bristol University) she was an extremely welcome face both on the course and at the finish.
It was my first marathon, maybe next year I'll do the half......
Once again many thanks to the marshals, organizers etc, fantastic event.

Dear Doug, Paul & Team A very big thank you to everyone who made yesterday’s event possible. There was so much happening behind the scenes that contributed to a successful event. No complaints at all. Loads of Marshals so no chance of me getting lost. Fantastic weather so no overheating. A Family friendly venue. Loads of extra Pasties. Looking forward to 10.10.10. Thanks again for a job well done. Ben Hieber, Newquay Road Runners Dear all at St Austell running,

A BIG BIG BIG Thank You to everyone who made the marathon at Eden so fabulous.
Don't know where to start really.
We were made to feel very welcome at registration on the Saturday and at the pasta party, especially when one of your ladies sat down with us and chatted for a while. She also cheered for us on race day. I have never run such a well laid out course with so many smiling and friendly marshalls and supporters. The whole process from arriving to leaving was without a hitch.
It was fantastic at the end to be able to enter a lovely warm building with dry and clean changing rooms.
Perfect post race refreshments, goodie bag, medal etc.
Amazingly quick with the results.
Baggage drop off and collection couldn't have been better. I could go on and on. Once more though, I have to give my thanks to the marshalls who stood out there in that drizzle all day. THANK YOU everyone. I will be back next year.
Regards

Hello, |
Hi - Great race really well organised and marshalled. The only thing I’d say for next time is have the Eden Project staff more clued up – they were totally unable to help spectators. My mum had brought my three year old little boy to come and watch and while I was running they went and looked round the Eden Project. They asked loads of staff where the finish was and nobody knew!! In the end they assumed it must be in the same place as the start and got a bus up there, asking the driver if this was the right thing to do – he didn’t know either! Of course it wasn’t right and they completely missed the finish…little boy in tears, etc. and it took me ages to find them so I was freezing as they had my stuff! Other than that it was fab, well done! To say it was first year it was really well thought out and organised and beautiful countryside…stunning autumn colours and so pretty. Will got there at some point and have a walk around…appreciate it a bit more! Kind Regards, Joanne, Mountainsun Ltd |
Just a line to say thank you to everyone involved yesterday for a great inaugural Eden Marathon. The level of enthusiasm from all the marshals was fantastic all round, organisation good and a Cornish summers day organised to boot! Full comments on runners world website for feedback. The pasty was worth 26 miles. Look forward to doing it all again next year with a lot more people across the full and half. Well done to all concerned. Steve Trevenna a Cornishman in Exile
Just wanted to say that I thought the Eden project marathon w as brilliant. Really well organised and loads of friendly marshals and helpers. Fantastic effort, well done. Rupert Williamson, Somerset
Hiya May I on behalf of Carn Runnners congratulate you on a fabulous day on Sunday. A group of us ran round slowly to take it all in and had to say it was most enjoyable. The marshals were superb and the setting perfect. Well done to all at St Austell Regards Steve Marks, Carn Runners |
Hi to St. Austell Running club Just to add my thanks to the many you should have received. Although I have enjoyed most of the races I have run, I have never before been so overwhelmed with appreciation to actually send a written thanks. The race was.
The marshals deserve another thanks, We at least were running to keep warm, they were in the same place for all that time, and still they gave very positive and well needed encouragement, even from the small marshaletts The pretty views were not to be seen, but the marshals made up for that. Best regards Mark Upson, Tamar trotters PS Did I forget to say, I got a PB, 20 mins faster than London . Roll on next year |
Hi
Just a word of thanks to STARC for a great race on Sunday.
A fantastic job with the organisation and I loved the course (mind you I only did the half!)
Only one tiny piece of negative feedback and that's to say that the viewing for spectators at the finish was awkward. Also, at the very end of supporting the marathon runners all day, 3 of my friends were disappointed at being told they would have to pay £8 each, just to get to see their mates finish the race.
But apart from that - brilliant! Thanks, as usual, to all the volunteers, marshalls etc.

Hello St. Austell Running Club,
Firstly, thank you for the organisation of the Eden Half-Marathon. Living by the seaside in Worthing, I am not sure I was fully prepared for the hard hill work, but certainly felt like I achieved something at the end of the race.
I would also like to say that the marshalling was excellent. I dont think I passed one marshall that did not give encouragement. It was very much needed and maybe the pain on my face prompted some sympathetic applause.
Many thanks,
David Guiel

Dear All at St Austell RC, Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed tagging along on Thursday night and training with you guys. We were made to feel very welcome and are considering coming back for the Eden races later in the year. My other half is back on track with her training for London and my legs may recover from the hills in time for the Bath Half on Sunday! If any of you find yourself in Bournemouth or Poole of a weekday evening and are lost for someone to run with, please take a look at: www.bournemouthjoggers.co.uk (women only) Poole AC runs Tuesday and Thursday nights from Broadstone Leisure Centre in Poole and Bournemouth Joggers runs on Mondays and Thursdays in Bournemouth. Hope to see some of you there, and good luck to all doing the FLM! James and Collette |
Thank you for letting me train with your Club on Tuesday 17th Feb. It was great to run with some different people (though I should add there's nothing wrong with my Club members) and particularly on different roads. I was on holiday in your area for that week and although I enjoyed a number of solitary runs along the coastal paths and roads it is better to run in a group and I was made very welcome by your members for the training session. All the best for your Club's future. Hope your 'marathon' promotion goes well. Len Quartly Chairman - Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club |
To St.Austell Running Club I just wanted to thank you for allowing me to tag along with you to London this weekend. Also thank you for being so friendly and welcoming. You're a great bunch and should be proud of the brilliant club you've got going. All the Best Helen Trudgeon (Plymouth Harriers) |
Hiya Just like to say thanks for todays run. Quite a few of us Carnies made the effort and I'm sure i speak for all when I say it was well worth while and I know most of us are looking forward to the actual race (Eden marathon).
Please say thanks to all involved today.

| Hi All, May I just say a big thank you to your running club for allowing myself and others to be shown the Eden marathon routes and allowed to run them with guides from the club. This was much appieciated and I can confirm that if the event is repeated I will attend again and try to persuade other runners from my club to attend. gratefully Mike Woodrow (Plymouth Coasters) |
Hi Paul
Just a quick email now we're back off our holiday.
Thank you ever so much for the run on the sunday and huge thanks to Katie ! It really felt like a "home from home" ..
I ran at the club yesterday infact and Mark passed me by. We spoke briefly and both agree what a nice club the st austell runners are - trouble is I couldnt speak for long - as he's obviously a little faster than me..
Was hopeful to get a pic of a lone hogweed in amongst the club in your local paper..but wasnt to be.. Nice pic of you all tho!
Thanks again ! and look forward to seeing some of your runners in this part of the world (bristol perhaps?)
