St Austell Skyline 10
The St Austell Skyline 10 offers participants the chance to explore St Austell’s clay mining heritage on a multi-terrain course that is varied, being both fast and challenging.
You will follow a mix of trails, permissive paths and footpaths around this 10 mile course brought to you by St Austell Running Club and supported by Imerys allowing us to utilise permissive paths and their land, you will pass by old clay dryers, clay pits and other heritage including starting opposite the historic Menacuddle Well.

The Event
A marshalled course at key points with access to 2 drinks locations along this 10 mile course.
Race HQ this year will be at Cornwall College St Austell's campus. The race starts at the beginning of the clay trail alongside Bodmin Road, a 1 mile walk from Race HQ. You will follow this shared access trail for approximately 2 miles as it rises up (be prepared for the climb!) towards the clay workings above St Austell.
The ‘skyline’ in our name comes from the point around 2.5 miles in. You will have completed a challenging ascent and, if the weather is on-side, will be able to experience spectacular views from the Sky Spur: the famous sky tip on one side and a panorama of St Austell Bay from the Gribbin around to Black Head and beyond.
You will cross the road bridge above the A390 and enter into a circuit of Baal Pit (used for filming episodes of Doctor Who in addition to its clay mining past). Along this trail there will be more vistas overlooking St Austell as well as passing the ancient quarry of Carn Grey (famous for its ‘Pentewan Stone’). You will continue along clay trails and a short, winding woodland section before passing the edge of the newly constructed Eco-village and completing the loop of Baal Pit, rejoining the trail back down, along Bodmin Road and to the finish. But watch out for the sting in the tail......................

Race HQ will be located in Cornwall College St Austell's campus where a bag drop will be available and where you can collect your race numbers. Refreshments available to purchase after. Car parking will be located at Cornwall College.
